How to Unlock the Recipe for Polymer
The main use for High-Quality Pal Oil is crafting Polymer, which is then used for all sorts of advanced equipment. To unlock the Polymer recipe, reach Player Level 33 and spend 2 Technology Points in the Technology tab.

You can now farm High-Quality Pal Oil right at home rather than catching or killing countless Pals. Assign a Dumud to a Ranch and it will generate High-Quality Pal Oil passively.
Dumud can be found in desert regions, namely the area south of Mount Obsidian and the area west of Mount Flopie. There's also a Level 14 Alpha version on Ice Wind Island. For the oil alone, it's worth catching a bunch of Dumuds until you get one with a work-boosting passive trait.
As of the 1.0 release, a new variant called Dumud Gild can also be placed in a Ranch to farm High-Quality Pal Oil, with a small chance to drop Gold Coins instead.
