Resource Guide
Coal Locations
Coal can be found in a wide variety of locations around Palpagos. Not only that, you can mine it right at your own base, ensuring you're never low on this particular resource. Here's how and where to get Coal in Palworld 1.0.
How to Get Coal
Coal is a material that can be efficiently farmed in a few different ways, whether out in the wilds or at your base.
Gather From Pals
One way to get Coal is by defeating or capturing certain Pals. In 1.0, your targets are Blazamut, Blazamut Ryu, and Pierdon.
- Blazamut: Found exclusively on Flamepulse Islet, east of the Dessicated Desert and south of the No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary, in the northeastern corner of the map.
- Blazamut Ryu: A Raid Boss, not found in the wilds. Summon it with a crafted Summoning Altar.
- Pierdon: Also found only on Flamepulse Islet, so you can do the whole grind in one spot.
Gather From Coal Nodes
Thanks to the 1.0 update, Coal nodes have become more common out in the wilds. You can find abundant Coal nodes at:
- Twilight Dunes (-96, -120)
- Verdant Brook
- Dessicated Desert — Deep Sand Dunes area at (319, 498)
Build a Coal Quarry
By far the most convenient way to farm Coal is to build a Coal Quarry at your base. It first becomes available at Level 37 as an Ancient Technology option, costing 5 x Ancient Technology Points to unlock.
To build it, you'll need:
- 70 x Stone
- 30 x Paldium Fragment
- 10 x Ancient Civilization Parts
- 100 x Coal
Once done, employ a Pal with a high Mining work suitability to make the best use of it.

Final Thoughts
Coal and ore often spawn together, so a single trip can stock both. Once you unlock the Coal Quarry, base-based coal production becomes the lowest-effort way to keep your refined ingots flowing.
